More and more couples are ditching the idea of gifting romantic gifts on birthdays for practical presents.
In other words, romantic presents such as jewelry are becoming a thing of the past and being replaced with high-tech gadgets as the gift of choice.
According to a UK research, some 60% of Britons would rather buy a gift their spouse needed instead of something that was unnecessary.
You know, jewelry was the most common birthday gift for couples to buy for each other 20 years ago. Now, couples are more likely to buy high-tech gadgets, such as iPods, or DVDs and books as birthday gifts.
However, there are couples that I know who rarely give each other a birthday gift. They would rather save up their money as emergency funds or investment funds.
Even if they want to buy each other a birthday gift, they would set price limits to make sure neither overspends.
In this trying time, it’s not surprising to see people are tightening their belts when it comes to buying gifts for celebrations and special occasions.
